"I'll write it down, so its not forgotten," replied Satan, crossing his fingers.

..sometimes I feel that 'the big one' needs a constant reminder too...
And surely Satan does sound like his assistant in keeping the balance
The last line is interesting..." replied" is surely sounds like 'repeated lies'
That's a great last line. Excellently done.

I'd like to ask "The Big One" to cure our economic woes, and to bring us peace and joy. Supposedly Satan was an angel, but was cast out, this kind of thing might be why. I couldn't help but to notice the presence of "lied" within replied, as I wrote this.
