55 Flash Fiction - Thorpadine
Thorpadine. No meaning, context, memory or reason for it to pop into mind.
Upon a web search, it returned nothing. The word, the thought, disturbed. Total nonsense, this Thorpadine. Not an element, compound, drug, flavor, process, or name. Nothing to have triggered the word's popping up.
His thought was, "Be glad you didn't think it."

On the contrary, I feel that if he had thought it, it would certainly have had a meaning. Like all those others that were thought have a meaning...
Loved this one. What IS a word without meaning?
Mona,
Have you any clue as to what "Thorpadine" means? Maybe its a drug from the future that would have cured me of my ills?
Anthony,
Thanks. A word without meaning seems to take on the meaning of the emotions that the void of its knowledge brings. Some may find it comforting, some disturbing.
it made me think of the "thorpedo" he was a swimmer in the 2000 olympics i think. not sure about the year, but he was from australia. nice 55
Very creative mona!
C&C,
Why am I not surprised you're thinking about swimmers? :D
Cat,
Mona is quite creative, but I'm the writer here, she and I trust one another enough to allow the other free reign on each of our blogs.
Sounds like a psychotropic medication to me. Not taking it could've actually meant that it had been taken.
JR,
Yeah, just the sound of it is what made me think that it might actually be a legitimate word and look it up. Funny how the mind works, it seems that if it can be affected by some compound, then it naturally has some compound that it either uses or makes that works analogously to the compound its affected by. That and it makes up words...
