Being Human(e)
Being human is a subject that is explored a lot amongst much Science Fiction. I mull it over in my mind quite a bit myself. I like the subject. That said, let me share some of my thoughts on on being human.
First, if you are reading this, chances are that you are a human (there's also the possibility that you are a mutant, or an advanced intelligence unknown to humanity, or even an artificial intelligence,) but you are what you are.
Being what you are, is a wise thing to be.
Being what you are, is a good thing to be.
Being what you are (an understanding intelligence,) makes you a brother or sister.
Therefore, being human means you are wise.
Being human means you are good.
Being human means you are a brother or sister.
Having said that, I come to the conclusion that in being human each of us would be wise to be good to our brother or sister. That would make each of us humane.

I guess I know that we are all brothers and sisters only by the fact that maybe we are all children of Adam!
In India we use the term Bhaiya a lot, which means brother...Or bhenji which means sister
But not many are good to each other
If we as humans could always remember to keep the humane in humanity, a lot of the world's problems would be solved.
I think being human is to realize we make mistakes and in doing so forgive not only ourselves but others as well.

Mona,
We all have more in common than we have different. Sorry to hear that not many are good to each other, I know that's not the case with you though.
SJ,
That is so true.
TC,
Forgiveness is a wonderful thing, I don't think enough realize that when we forgive, we are probably the biggest beneficiaries.
Human...?
Wait till the world finds out that 'WE' are just a planet of Alien Hybrids being watched like an Ant Farm....
"The Truth is Out There!"
Fox Mulder...
Charles, such a beautiful post.
You are such a wise man.
G,
Gee, Fox Mulder, what happened to the other 'G', Gillian Anderson?
LW,
Thanks, I really wish I were wise, unfortunately I have to think about things to avoid making the foolish decisions.
Your conclusion is wise and good... but unfortunately perhaps still a bit optimistic! Perhaps it means also that some humans cannot reamain "as they (you, we...) are", or at least as they behave. Some changed attitude would be required!
Peter,
Thus my post, in an effort to influence attitudes.
I agree 100%!!
We are all bothers and sisters on this little bit of dust we call Earth spinning away in the huge universe.
All we have is each other.
Mike,
Yes, we are. I sometimes think about how easily I might have been not me, but been my brother.
I kinda like being human. And humane. We have a lot of free will and because of this we are able to make choices on how we treat people. Just sometimes I think too many people don't make a conscious choice.
Beautiful post, Charles. :)
