Why Am I Here?
I sometimes ask myself, "Why am I here?" It might be more fruitful to first ask myself, "What am I?"
An example of what I mean would be a BD-5 in the the woods. To ask, why is it here, without a clue as to what it is, would miss the point of how it got there, and probably, why it is in the woods (I'm making an assumption here, if you know what it is, you've more a clue than most). So first let's ask what it is, then answer that question.
Q. What is a BD-5?
A. A BD-5 is a small aircraft. (You may remember "James Bond" flying one through a hangar as the doors were being closed.)
Ok. Now we all know what it is. How can a small aircraft get into the woods?
Well, it can come out of the sky, it can float up from the water, it can roll in on a car/trailer/truck or its own wheels, or it can be carried by a small team (think high-school football pranks).
Examination of the condition of the BD-5 might give some clues, as well as looking for tracks/skidmarks, broken limbs, high-water marks on the trees, etc. Those could give some fine clues as to how it got there. With that answer, one might be able to make a close guess as to why its there.
The easiest way though, would be to ask the guy sitting in/on/around it, if he's alive.
Which brings me back to why I ask myself, "Why am I here?"
And you thought I could give you some answers. Gimme a break.

Your question comes close to one of the most frequently asked questions: What is the purpose of Life?
The answer to that one is , that Life has no purpose other than itself.Life is the aim of everything. Hence, it cannot have any aim other than itself. In other words, Life's aim is intrinsic. It has within itself, to grow, to expand, to love , to celebrate and enjoy. And all these are aspects of Life.
Now to your question, "Why am I here?" :
Each person comes into this world with a specific destiny. He has something to fulfill, some message to deliver, some work to complete. You are not here accidentally. You are here Meaningfully. There is a purpose behind you. The WHOLE or God or Existence intends to do something through you. Just know that!
What if we are somewhat like the BD-5, or like cars? Some are used with the purpose for which they are made. Some are never finished. Some are parked away as collector's items. All built with a purpose to fulfill but, not all reach their potential. Some will last and be shown off years later. Some will be abused. Some may reach a fiery end.
Just because they were engineered with a few goals in mind. like comfort, beauty and utility, doesn't mean they always have that purpose. In reality a car is created with one goal in mind; that goal is to make the manufacturer money. The other goals are met to sell to the consumer. The consumer ultimately has his own set of goals for the product, like getting groceries, showing off, preserving for 20 years to sell for more than the cost, etc.
So even though we are created with a set purpose, life, we as the consumer have to have our own purpose for this vehicle each of us calls "me."
That is what I said exactly. to grow, to love, to expand, to celebrate, those are our 'me' purpose. That depends entirely on our choices.
We all have potential for that. We all have energy for that. Only the environment we are place in, is not of our choice. Still, we have the potential to turn it to our advantage. We have energy to do so. And energy is always neutral. It is up to us where we push it; in the positive, or in the negative direction.
I have seen people rise above the most adverse conditions. I have heard of people who could not afford to have a light bulb in their hose, studying in the light of street lamp and making it big in Life. isn't it enough to know that Eisenstein was a dyslexic !
Do not equate people with cars. They can form an a analogy but not an equation. Cars are actualities, not potentialities. They cannot grow. They will remain as they were created.
We do not remain as we were born. The major difference between a man and a car is the growth. & growth is one of the basic individual purpose. How, so, depends on our free will & choices; which again is the greatest Gift to mankind ( or an anathema; whatever he chooses to make of it)
The truth is, we may be 'somewhat like them', but we are not them.
what happened to your cluster map!
